Abstract Providing high-quality evidence in the field of urinary incontinence is difficult because the value of diagnostic tests must be evaluated through the filter of treatment outcome, and surgical treatments include an unavoidable amount of intrinsic variability. The scientific community should be commended for the gigantic effort made over the years to provide evidence upon which proper patient management can be based.
